5 Motivating Reasons to Start a Fitness Routine

It’s common knowledge that exercise is good for your health. Whether you want to lose weight, prolong your life, get stronger or prevent disease, there’s an overwhelming amount of evidence that exercise is key to a healthy life.

But for most people, it is much easier to think about the benefits of exercise than it is to begin to exercise regularly. It can be confusing to know where to start, to determine what kind of fitness will be right for you and to change your habits and lifestyle to fit in fitness. If you don’t work out regularly, it’s kind of stressful thinking about trying to fit it in, especially if you’re already very busy. But studies show that exercise can actually reduce stress. And not just by blowing steam, but also in the long run: exercise increases concentrations of norepinephrine, a chemical that assists the brain in moderating stress hormones. While it can seem like squeezing fitness into a busy schedule will take time away from you, studies have shown that people who work out regularly are actually more productive. Exercise improves the quality of sleep, boosts brain power and memory, and gives the body a natural boost of endorphins and benefits endorphin production overall, so in the long run, making time for exercise will most likely boost your productivity rather than detract from it.
